Peter Powers: Street Hypnosis, Pt. 2

A woman comes in for a simple portrait, and is convinced that she is an underwear model. A man is convinced that he’s smelling an awful, gaseous personal smell on the elevator. It gets worse each time he goes up or down. But…he’s the only occupant.

Although there does seem to be some controversy over certian hypnosis
courses on the internet, is there really cause for concern?

At the end of the day most people never carry out the “underhand” or “underground”
courses available as they lose interest and move on to something else.

Its long been an opinion of most that hypnosis does not work, but i disagree.

    Just my opinion though

I just can’t see how this can be real - isn’t hypnosis all a scam?

Peter - re. “isn’t hypnosis all a scam?”

Hypnosis is VERY real!An act of parliament would suggest so - The Hypnotism Act 1952!

Also, hypnosis does need a WILLING participant. If you want to quit smoking but don’t believe hypnosis will help you quit then it won’t!

Really now… its 2008 and people still think hypnosis is a scam.

I present to you the Internet… try a google or two :)

Visiting a psychologist for hundreds of hours with an average of 38% success, versus a few hours of hypnotherapy with an average of 96% success… You tell me, which one is the scam.

    Exactly!

Hypnotism is very real. Our brain views the world far more subjectively that we would like to believe. Hypnotists realise how pliable our minds are in this way.

    Steve on hypnosis Says:

It’s quite true. In any kind of altered state we can become more suggestible. As a professional harley street hypnotherapist I know that people can hypnotise themselves into all kinds of limited ‘problem’ states, and sustain these for many years!

Most of my work invovles ‘dehypnotising’ people…. and resetting them to ‘normal’.

These videos are hilarious. I hope people realize the difference between hypnosis for entertainment vs. hypnosis for therapy.

Yes , I believe that hypnosis it true , it’s just that some people are more susceptible to it than others.

One has to be in the proper mindset for it to be more effective.

I’m not sure if this is a correct
    example:

a lot of people are saying that when your taught to memorize the keys of a keyboard then when you do and your able to type without looking at the keyboard
, this is a form of hypnosis

I’ve never seen this particular video or show, but this is one heck of a hypnotitst. His use of covert hypnosis is fantastic and this is a great video to use for modeling.

    How to Hypnotize people Says:

Ahah, it can’t be real. Of course there are some people who have been working with hypnosis for a long time and they can do such things with people but they won’t show their skills on television or in front of cameras. The video above is not real =)
