Peter Skellern: You’re A Lady
This is the kind of song that either really touches you, or does nothing for you at all. For me, it’s the former. The rhymes are a bit cheap here and there, and the production values sound somewhat akin to a high school band or a Salvation Army band rather than that of a pop hit. But there’s something very human about the vulnerability of the lyrics and the vocals. From 1972, here’s a reasonably good lip-sync performance from Top of the Pops by Peter Skellern. His biggest hit ever, the song made it to #50 on the pop charts in the US, but I searched for it for years thereafter…i.e., it’s been on my iPod since long before there was such a thing.

Time-Lapse: Milky Way Flies Over
The Paranal Observatory is located on the top of Cerro Paranal in the Atacama Desert in the northern part of Chile, in what is believed to be the driest area on Earth.The Paranal mountain was chosen because of its excellent atmospheric conditions its remoteness (i.e., low dust, light pollution and mines). The most amazing part is how much you can see, even as the sun comes up. Stunning!
