Mylon LeFevre: More
Mylon was the offspring of a famous family in Southern Gospel music: The LeFevres. He was successful at an early age. At 17 years old, he wrote his first song, “Without Him,” while in the Army. The gospel song was recorded by Elvis Presley in 1963, and within the next year, 126 artists had recorded his songs. He disappeared for a long time into the world of rock music, hanging out with some of the elite names of the day, serving as a session vocalist on many albums. After a heroin overdose in the Seventies, he ended up coming full circle in 1980…beginning as a church janitor during the time he was getting his life straightened out. His first overtly Christian album in many years, Brand New Start, came in 1981…and this song, More, was the title song of his next album, a couple years later. His album featured lush harmonies, which are a bit hard to recreate live…but you still get a sense of the beauty of his music and the quality of the vocals. More about him at Mylon.org.
