The Web’s Best Video Clips: Videos With A Brain

A 1972 performance by David Gates and the rest of the band. A huge hit for them. Gates had a gorgeous voice and was a very solid songwriter, and, aside from a couple small goofs, the guitar work which serves as the focus of the song lyric is very tasty (similar sound but different licks than the original recording). Though you never really see his face, presumably the guitar work was provided by Larry Knechtel.
