In My Mind – Asperger’s Syndrome

A boy named Alex Olinkiewicz takes the time to explain, from his perspective, what it’s like to have Asperger’s Syndrome. Very interesting stuff…especially if you know someone (as I do) who is thusly affected.

I saw a fascinating documentary about this on the BBC when I lived in London a few years back. What was startling was how prevalent it was among men who chose to become engineers. In one case, a man described how he knew he loved his wife (now ex-wife) and child but he didn’t know how to express affection or how to read other people’s emotions. Most of his behavioral responses were learned, not natural.

Louise that sounds pretty sad about that man, losing his family because of a behavioral problem like that.

Fortunately, I have such persons around me who love me more than anything in their life but I know I am patient. I am now and it is worse to have such behavior at this age but I have to live with it forever. I am not sad about the boy ALex because he knew that already and learned how to live with it.
